An English ‘Barleycorn Pattern’ Bone Chess Set, 19th Century
one side stained red, the other side left natural, kings and queens with multi baluster knops, bishops with split mitres, knights as carved horses’ heads and rooks as monobloc turrets, pawns with turned reeded bases and ball finials, in a wooden box with a hinged lid and two hinged clasps.
King: 10.1cm high

Condition
Generally good. Some rubbing to the red stain. Nice example of an antique English bone chess set in a classic pattern.
