Shipping

Shipping should be as simple as possible.

All prices are inclusive of packing and shipping to Mainland UK destinations. Please allow approximately 7-10 working days for delivery to the UK. If you need an item sent to a destination outside the UK, please get in touch with us for a quote. We aim to ship items, fully insured up to the price paid,  at affordable and competitive rates.

With the exception of books, playing cards and catalogues (which are sent using Royal Mail First Class post and Airmail), all items are sent using a tried and tested specialist fine art shipper, Focus Packing. We have been using Focus for many years now: they have a track record in the careful shipment of antiques and fine art, including chess sets- for which they have a specialist reputation. They will also handle all the necessary paperwork (including CITES export licence applications) for the export of antique ivory to non EU countries.

All items over the price of £50 are sent with tracked and recorded delivery. All items will be carefully packed by Focus Packing before sending. Chess set pieces are individually wrapped.

If you have any questions about shipping please contact Luke at shipping@lukehoney.co.uk.

Shipping Ivory and Tropical Hardwoods

As a responsible seller, Luke Honey Ltd works closely with Taxidermy and Wildlife Law Consultants to keep up to date with the regulations on the trade in ivory and wildlife specimens at all times.

CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna) is an international agreement between governments drawn up in 1973. Its aim is to ensure that international trade in specimens of wild animals and plants does not threaten their survival.

Please note that antique elephant ivory and some tropical hardwoods will require a CITES export licence to export to destinations outside of the European Union. Our shippers will be happy to apply for a licence on your behalf. Elephant ivory items under 100 years old in date are likely to be denied a licence for import into the United States, and under recent legislation there may be further restrictions on the import of elephant ivory to certain US states.

Returns

Every effort has been made to describe and depict the items sold as accurately as possible. However, if there is a fault or you are less than delighted with your purchase for any reason, we are happy to provide a refund, as long as the item is returned to Luke Honey Ltd within seven days of receipt, and in the original condition it was sent. To cancel the order you must advise us by email. You will be responsible for the shipping costs both to and from your address. You must ask for proof of purchase from your Post Office when you return the item. We suggest that you return items by recorded delivery as we cannot refund items which are damaged or lost in transit, and the parcel is not our responsibility until we have signed for it.

Pricing

All prices include packing and shipping to destinations within the Mainland UK. No item will be despatched until full payment has been received and cleared by the bank. When you order from our website, all our payments are processed by Paypal. Information (such as
credit or debit card details) is encrypted by the use of security systems with encryptions and firewalls, provided on a secure socket layer SSL to protect the confidentiality and integrity of your information from unauthorised access and disclosure.

Condition & Descriptions

We aim to offer items in the best condition that we find them; but as many of the antique items offered for sale are well over 100 years old, they come with all the patina of age, which may include slight scuffs, nicks and minor surface scratches. We feel that this adds to their character. Any faults or idiosyncrasies will be described in full to make you know what you're buying and that there are no surprises. Sometimes it may be necessary to carry out subtle, appropriate and careful minor restoration work, and when appropriate this will alway be described.

Photographs are taken as accurately as possible, but because of digital processing methods and variations in light, it's possible that the colours depicted in photographs may differ slightly from the items received.

Sale of Ivory

As a responsible seller, Luke Honey Ltd works closely with Taxidermy and Wildlife Law consultants to keep up to date with the regulations on the trade in ivory and wildlife specimens at all time. Under current DEFRA regulations: "Antique worked specimens of ivory acquired in their finished worked state before 3 March 1947 are covered by antiques derogation (Article 62(3) of EC regulation 865/2006) and may be used commercially without a certificate."

If you have any questions about the export or sale of ivory or other items considered endangered, please contact Luke at info@lukehoney.co.uk

We do not sell vintage or antique electrical equipment. All antique table lamps have been re-wired, and all electrical equipment sold complies with the UK British Standard, and where appropriate, the European Standard safety requirements.
